These Charming Men
SYNOPSIS
This is our male ticking clock movie. After being jilted by his fiancee' a man sets out to find a replacement.
This is our mad take on modern relationships and male neurosis. Driven by the death of his batchelor uncle our hero decides it's time to settle down. But after the shock of being dumped by his loving girlfriend he enlists the help of his two best friends to find another partner. Trouble is the rules of the game have changed and the women are now wearing the trousers. Ben and his two mates are clueless and their feeble and pathetic attempts turn into a series of increasingly disastrous lessons. Meanwhile, it transpires that his girlfriend has been recruited by a subversive female group dedicated to undermine men and install women ‘at the top'. The story culminates in a battle of the sexes where the men dress up as women in order to fully understand their opposites and in order to infiltrate the enemy! In short, this is ‘Swingers in london'- but with substance- meets 'The in-betweeners'
STYLE
What on the surface may appear to be a ‘laddie' picture is underneath, a film about male identity crisis, male/female role reversal and ultimately a modern take on ‘The battle of the sexes'.
It is intended that the picture be directed with an American ‘indie' feel, perhaps somewhere between Doug Liman of ‘swingers' and ‘Go' fame and the quirkiness of ‘There's something about Mary' / ‘Being John Malkovich'. This is not a ‘traditional' British comedy!!

LOOK
Fast paced, moody lighting style (i.e. minimal!) with a quirky edge - unusual camera angles/moves - a mixture of hand held and fast track  - possibly mix film stock (super8) with HDV ( e.g. super8 would be good for some of the coastal scenes mixed with faster HDV footage in the bars/clubs etc). their will be a mixture of film speeds- particularly in the more surreal moments in the film - of which there are many!
